I started my Triathlon training in earnest this week. I signed up for a free two-month session with TriDot, an online coaching program. I took beginning assessment tests over the last couple of weeks for my swim, bike, and run paces, and they have devised a plan to help improve my times in all areas. I must say that I was very nervous before I started. I’ve never used a training plan before. Since I started signing up for half marathons and triathlons, I’ve just been an “I’ll do what I can do” kind of girl. I’ve improved a lot, but mostly because I went from total couch potato to someone who really loves health and fitness. Nowhere to go but up! Now it’s time to start getting some skills.

So, I was nervous to start TriDot. Would it be too much for me? Too hard? Will I find the time to work out almost every day? Honestly, it has been awesome. I’m loving every moment of it! I have no stress about what I will do for a workout because it’s all there on my phone, and I can just follow the plan.

My swim workouts are a bit difficult because I don’t actually have access to a pool at the moment. Oops. I brought some information to my amazing boxing gym and some of the trainers there are helping me devise dryland swim workouts using the equipment there. Huge shout-out to Bancroft Boxing Gym!!!

Bike workouts have been amazing. Prior to TriDot, I had not biked more than 23 miles in one session (that was during my Olympic Triathlon last July). So far this week I’ve biked more than 50 miles. My bike trainer set up in the basement (with movies to watch!) is getting more comfortable every day.

Running has been the easiest for me, just put on my sneakers and head out the door. I’ve always just “run” though – never trained. Now I’m learning new ways to stretch myself (haha both physically and mentally!) so that I can improve my pace and my distance runs.

After almost one week, I already feel like I have more muscle than before. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next!

P.S. The picture is one of several machines I’m using at the gym for my “swim” workouts.

And one last thing, for those of you who’ve made it this far in the blog – I just found out that my nutrition system is releasing a Seasonal Flavor this Tuesday. Birthday Cake Shake. Wow, can’t wait to try that one – it’s definitely part of my plan! Yum!
